Vroya’s Review

The Lost Cases of Sherlock Holmes takes the hidden object mystery genre and adds a nice classical touch to it. You get to walk Sherlock and Watson throughseveral different kinds of puzzles, spot the difference scenes, and hidden object searches for each case. With 16 cases that I know of, you shouldn’t be bored anytime soon.

Graphics: The scenes are rich and detailed, and the hidden objects while blended in well, are not impossible to find. After playing another game the other day, I was pleasantly surprised to find that when you used the magnifying glass it didn’t pixellate the picture. In between scenes, the animation is a wee bit cheesy, but nothing to complain about.

Audio: The sounds and music in The Lost Cases of Sherlock Holmes was done well. There is also a lot of really good voice acting in the voice overs. The only “problem” was the constant interruptions (cutscenes) in the middle of problem solving or hidden object searches. That “problem” went away though when I realized that you could choose not to display them in the options page.

Gameplay: Also really well done. Basically, just picture for a minute every mini-game that you’ve found in any other type of hidden object game, and it’s bound to be in there somewhere, whether it’s inlay puzzles, spot the differences, unlock puzzles, etc. The Lost Cases of Sherlock Holmes has something for just about everyone.

Verdict: The Lost Cases of Sherlock Holmes is definitely worth checking out. Any hidden object lover must get this one for their collection, and all other puzzle lovers deserve to try this out to see if it’s their game. Download the full (143mb) version and give it a try. Decide for yourself if it’s worth the purchase after you play for an hour.
