Vroya’s Game Review - Jungle Quest

Enter the Amazon Jungle and try to succeed where Ponce de Leon failed. It’s up to you to find the Fountain of Youth and halt the spread of a deadly infection that threatens millions. Follow the runes to find the Tree of Life, and from there the Fountain of Youth to save your grandfather and millions of other helpless people from dying.

Jungle Quest is an addictive Match 3 game that will keep you playing all night long if you don’t force yourself away from your computer.

You start off with a nicely drawn cartoon slideshow that sets up the story. The storyline is richly detailed, with several amusing anecdotes that will at bare minimum put a grin on your face while reading. Gameplay is outstanding though. While it follows the basic match 3 swap and match gameplay formula, you are also encouraged to buy several power-ups and spells that will greatly increase your power. Each spell or power-up can be upgraded up to 3 times each, and get more powerful and useful as you spend your extra gold on upgrading them. Spells must be activated by filling up the mana flask (made my making matches) while power-ups are completely passive, and can be useful throughout the game without having to activate them first. Expect lots of beautiful explosions and board clearing, especially once all of your power-ups are bought and paid for.

Jungle Quest does offer one major difference from most match 3 games. Instead of having to clear tiles, you must instead make matches (thereby destroying) specific gems that have crystals or runes embedded into them. At times, this makes the levels go by overly quick, but as the gameboard is constantly shifting, you may find it difficult to get that one last crystal. There are several medals and trophies to earn and display, and bonuses to collect. At any time you can repeat any level to get a better score or medal (and bring your newly bought bonuses with you) without affecting future levels that you’ve already played and mastered. It’s fun going back to earlier levels that you didn’t do so well on and just blowing away you past records.

Audio is on par with other “Quest” games, with decent sound effects and music. Not once did I search for the options button to mute or lower volume. I can say that about very few other games.

Final verdict: If you like (or love) match 3 games, you just have to try out Jungle Quest. It’s not “just another gem swap game”. With unique board clearing, occasional cool mini-games, beautiful graphics and good audio, it’s a sure-fire winner for any matching puzzle lover out there.

Not sure? Don’t be afraid to download and play Jungle Quest for free! There’s never any obligation to buy, and you can see for yourself just how wonderful this match 3 game is. Just click on the red Download button above, and get ready for a match three Jungle Quest paradise!
