Travel from the bazaars of Egypt to the white sands of the Caribbean, then blast into outer space. Tinker with wrecking balls and lightening rods to weld crazy machines. Can you conquer over 200 elements in these brain-bending puzzles? Catapult crazy machines into high gear, and create a chain reaction using springs, gears, and other parts in this wacky contraption game.

Crazy Machines System Requirements:
OS:Windows XP/Vista
Memory256mb
DX:8.0
HD:65mb
First of all, there are so many options when you begin that I probably will miss one or two. You have the ability to change screen resolutions, music tracks (even use your own CDs), choose whether or not to use anti-aliasing, cursors, and more. You can choose different labs, and even tell the “Professor” how often to razz on you. Crazy Machines is really a tinkerer’s dream.
Audio: As I said in the paragraph above, you can choose from any of three soundtracks, or if they aren’t your style, it allows you to play your own music CD’s. You can choose just to play a favorite track, repeat all, or shuffle all indefinitely. I just wish it had MP3 support, but while you can ask fr everything, it’s not often you’ll get it all. The Professor occasionally pops up (mostly when you have to restart) and razzes you with random zingers (“Beware – Brains at work”, “you’re not going to get very far that way…” and several others). You can adjust how often he talks to you, or even silence him if you so desire.
Graphics: Awesome. Full 3D with shadows. Several options to either improve graphics, or lower them to gain computer performance. I tried at both the highest possible levels (pretty), and the lowest. The lowest were still really good, and my old computer hummed beautifully with it.
Gameplay: Each level you are presented with a task and given a number of items that you can use. You simply place items where you think that they will accomplish the goal. For example, in order to roast a sausage for him (I think the professor got the munchies), you have to set a candle under a boiler, set the pipes, place a 2 gears, then a gear chain from a conveyor belt and a piston to rotate the spit. If it sounds complicated – IT IS. But that’s the whole point. You score points for figuring out the puzzles in a short period of time, but you can continue on trying until you get it right. There is no “Game Over” unless you want to quit for a while and cool your aching brain.
Final Verdict: Crazy Machines is the best mechanical brain teasing game I’ve found yet. If you like logic puzzles and brain teasers, or just plain tinkering with spare parts, I’m betting that you’re going to seriously enjoy this game. One word of advice though: Be sure to walk the dog, feed your family if applicable, and make sure any necessary chores or homework is done before you start playing. Why? Because Crazy Machines is going to grab ahold of you and not let you go. I guarantee you will either say, or hear “just one more time” more than once.
Enjoy!
