Vroya’s Game Review - Dr. Lynch: Grave Secrets
Just in time for Halloween comes a new spooky hidden object adventure mystery game. Join Dr. Lynch as he tries to debunk reports and rumors about a ghost that’s been terrorizing a local archeological dig and the surrounding English countryside. It’s your job to search for clues and objects, while gathering information from the locals in order to uncover the true facts behind these ghostly appearances.
Dr. Lynch: Grave Secrets is not a game for those with weak eyes. The hidden objects in each of the masterfully drawn scenes are about as cleverly hidden as I’ve seen in any hidden object game so far. Plus, be prepared to understand “Queen’s English” as many of the items in your list are listed in their local names (England). Generally this poses no problem, and can be figured out pretty easily, but on occasion, you might run across a name you just don’t understand. Luckily the hint system is fairly generous, and you can get those last couple of items without hassle. Basic gameplay is norm for this genre - get a list of items to find, and find them. However, you are also presented with a myriad of unique mini-games created just for Dr. Lynch: Grave Secrets, as well a card collection system. These cards hold hints and rumors to use when solving the mystery, and give quite a bit of back story, making this a game that is very easy to become totally immersed in.
I did have one minor issue with Dr. Lynch: Grave Secrets. The countdown timer. You have 25 minutes to solve each chapter - which includes a number of places to search through. But after 23 minutes have passed - at the 2 minute to go mark, you are greeted by an annoying alarm, that repeats itself ever 5 seconds. This alarm really interferes with gameplay - and makes a great argument for playing this game without any volume at all. However, aside from that alarm, the audio environment sounds and music are near perfect. In the games defense though, most people will never hit the 2 minute warning. I only discovered it because I had to walk the dog, and forgot to pause it.
My verdict? If you are a fan of hidden object mysteries - you’ve gotta try Dr. Lynch: Grave Secrets out. Just in time for Halloween with a ghostly theme, you can’t really go wrong.
